Of Dreams and Shadow Forget Me Not Book 1 eBook D S McKnight

This ghost story for young adults begins with a gruesome scene when a young girl discovers a shadow in her back yard and disappears to the horror of Chase, a neighborhood kid who is helpless to do anything but report his nightmares. The tragic abduction is never solved.

The story jumps forward twelve years to that time when Chase, now a junior in high school, encounters new neighbors, 16-year-old Jenna and her mom. The plot thickens as Jenna plunges into a new high school, makes friends, and discovers unexpected strengths in this small community and herself.

I don’t often read YA, but the writer did a very good job of presenting the story with emotional intensity, believable characters, and a sense of history as Chase and Jenna come to know each other better. The characters reveal their feelings very effectively through their actions and inner dialogue. Jenna’s frustration about moving to a small town comes through clearly, as does her ability to trust others.

Because the writer brings us inside the characters, we experience their insecurities, their inner doubts and their growth. The sometimes prickly relationship between teens and parents is explored realistically. The writer also tackles the very difficult issue of bullying, whether by a threatened popular beauty (nicknamed the ‘queen of darkness’), or the very sinister Shadow in the back yard that won’t go away. Well worth a read!

Disclaimer I received a copy of the book from the author / publisher in exchange for my honest review.
This book had a great story line and kept me wanting to read one more chapter. Love it and hoping for another!
I really enjoyed reading this book. The story is written really well. I would recommend this book for teens. Can't wait for Book Two.
This book was recommended to me by a friend. I usually do not have much interest in fiction, but I found this book different. The characters are awesome, and once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. I hope the author continues this story, and I would seriously love to see this as a movie as well. I have recommended this book to a few family members and friends. So far, those who have read it have found it very entertaining. For me this was a great find at a good price.
Knowing the author, I was impressed by the tall tale she spun and hope to see some more of her work!
I loved this book!! I couldn't stop reading til the end and I think it should be illegal not to write a sequel!! If you like Nicholas Sparks, twilight, the lovely bones, Meg Cabot...well pretty much if you have ever liked any book in the world you will love this book too! This is going to be the next big thing. I was hooked from the beginning, everything from the plot the writing the characters the flow of the words, it grabbed me from the beginning! Sequel please!!
D.S McKnight skilfully weaves together time periods in this sinister tale. Modern-day high school rivalries combine with lurking ghosts from the past to make a gripping story. Main character, Jenna is a likeable, well developed character who starts off on the wrong foot with Chase, the good looking but unwelcoming guy who seems to dislike her, but really is there to protect her. I can't say too much more about the story because of spoilers, but it moves along at a lively pace and keeps the reader's attention. The opening is extremely gripping and leaves you wondering what exactly is this strange force that haunts Jenna's garden. That question will keep you intrigued until the end.
